Today's Reading: John 1:1-5, 18
John's gospel account doesn't give us any of the physical details regarding the birth of Jesus, like Matthew and Luke do. But He does reveal the purpose and meaning of the birth of Jesus.
As "the Word", Jesus is God's final and most complete revelation of Himself - though no on has seen God, when we see Jesus, we understand the nature and character of God more completely. Jesus, who was from the beginning and the creator of all, willingly came to earth and took on human flesh in order to shine God's light into a dark world. Sadly, most of the world chooses to continue to live in darkness rather than expose their lives to the light of Jesus.
Have you allowed Jesus to shine His light into your life? Have you humbled yourself before Him and acknowledged the sin that light reveals? Have you placed your faith in Jesus alone? If not, will you do that today?
