Today's Reading: Psalm 57:1-9
Read the passage and answer these two questions:
My observations from Psalm 52:
Not surprisingly David writes of the steadfast love (remember hesed?) of God once again. But we also see the patience of God here. He doesn't usually judge men for their sins immediately although He will certainly do that one day. I am reminder here of what Peter wrote:
2 Peter 3:9 (ESV)
The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.
If God is patient like that, then I should be, too. I need to remember that no one is beyond the reach of God so I need to treat them with the same grace and mercy that God has treated me. And I need to be careful not to hang onto "my rights" so closely that I become a hindrance to the gospel.
Read the passage and answer these two questions:
- What doe this passage teach me about God and His attributes?
- How should that understanding about the nature of God impact the way that I live my life?
