Today's Reading: Revelation 21:1-27
In the last two chapters of the Bible, John describes his vision of the new heavens and new earth that will be the final fulfillment of all of God's promises that we have been reading about in our Bible reading plan this year.
The New Jerusalem will be the eternal home for all those who have place their faith in Jesus. It is important to note that it will be a physical dwelling place in which the disciples of Jesus will live in their physical resurrection bodies that we read about in 1 Corinthians 15. While we don't have a lot of detail of what our lives will be like there, the glimpses we do get in the Bible reveal that we won't be sitting around on a cloud playing a harp (which honestly doesn't sound real attractive to me anyway). We will have productive lives in which worship God and serve others. So in some ways our life here on this earth is a rehearsal for what we'll be doing for eternity.
