Today's Reading: Ezekiel 36:1-38
For the sake of His name, during the Day of the Lord, God is going to restore Israel. He will not do that because they are deserving in any way.
The thing that strikes me the most in this chapter is that it is God who is doing everything that is necessary to restore and vindicate His chosen people. He is the one who will give them a new heart so that they will be able to recognize Jesus as the Messiah. That is consistent with our own salvation experience in which we did absolutely nothing and God did everything. Jesus died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins and then God sent the Holy Spirit into our lives to convict us of our sin and show us our need for a Savior. He even provided the faith to trust in Jesus. Take some time today to thank God for working in your life like that.
