Today's Reading: 1 Kings 21:1-29
The account in this chapter reminds me a lot of Genesis 3. Even though Ahab didn't kill Naboth himself, he certainly had to have been aware that Jezebel had done that when he took possession of the vineyard. That seems to be confirmed by the fact that God pronounces judgment on Ahab.
The one encouraging note in this chapter is that Ahab actually repents, which was certainly uncommon for him. And while God doesn't completely remove His judgment, He does postpone it until a future generation.
This is a sobering reminder that even when we repent, God doesn't aways remove the consequences of our sin. However, it is still aways better to repent when we do sin than to not do that.
