Today's Reading: 1 Kings 17:1-24
For the next several days we will be reading the account of the prophet Elijah and King Ahab. Ahab was the seventh king of Israel (the northern 10 tribes). He reigned for 22 years and "did evil in the sight of the LORD, more than all who were before him." (1Kings 16:30).
In the last part of this chapter, Elijah performs a miracle that foreshadows the resurrection of Jesus. When the widow's son dies, Elijah prays and God brings the boy back to life. However, there is one significant difference between that miracle and the resurrection of Jesus. Jesus is still alive!
