Today's Reading: Ecclesiastes 12:1-14
I've always maintained that the best way to understand the book of Ecclesiastes is to begin by reading the last two verses of the book:
The end of the matter; all has been heard. Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man. For God will bring every deed into judgment, with every secret thing, whether good or evil.
It is indeed vanity to try and figure out everything in this life. There are just some things that God chooses to keep a mystery here on earth. And if we spend too much time trying to figure those things out, we are going to be frustrated. What God wants us to do is to fear Him and keep His commandments and to enjoy the blessings that He brings into our lives.
