Today's Reading: 1 Samuel 2:1-36
In spite of his surroundings, Samuel chooses not to follow in the path of Eli's wicked sons. In verse 21 and again in verse 26 we see that Samuel was growing in favor with the Lord and with man. Those same words are used to describe Jesus in Luke 2:52:
And Jesus increased in wisdom and in stature and in favor with God and man.
Samuel shows us that we can grow in our relationship with god regardless of our circumstances. Certainly some of us have been or are now in a place where maturing in our relationship with God is difficult, but we can't use that as an excuse. Is there anything in your life that you are using as an excuse to hinder your spiritual growth?
