This Sunday's message: The Song of Zechariah

May 5

Today's Reading: Judges 16:1-31

Once again, Samson's weakness for women gets him in trouble. But this time, he violates the Nazirite vow that he had carried out since his birth and God's spirit leaves him and he loses all his strength. This should serve as a reminder that we all have weaknesses and if we don't turn them over to God and take steps to keep them from becoming a lifestyle, they will eventually cause great harm in our lives.

Fortunately, Samson does turn back to God at the end of his life and God uses him to kill more Philistines in his death than he had in his life. Hopefully, we won't wait until we die to return to God when we stray from Him. But this passage should also encourage us by showing that God can use us in spite of our rebellion against Him.
