Today's Reading: Hebrews 3:1-19
The writer of Hebrews quotes from Psalm 95, which we read last week. He reminds his readers that the people of Israel hardened their hearts in the wilderness and therefore were unable to enter into God's rest by entering into the land He had promised to give them.
We are prone to do the same thing - just in different ways. When we complain and grumble, we are essentially choosing not to believe in God. We are in effect saying that we don't trust that God has our best interests at heart. And the more that we do that, the more likely it is that our hearts will become hardened. So whenever you find yourself complaining or grumbling, acknowledge that, confess it, and choose to focus on how God had blessed you.
