Today's reading: 1 Corinthians 10:1-33
I referred to this passage last week when we read about Moses striking the rock. Here Paul gives us some more insight into why that sin received such harsh judgment from God. The rock that Moses struck was a picture of Jesus, who only had to be struck once for our sins. We also see here that Israel's entire experience in the wilderness is to serve as an example for us. Paul points out that all who participated in the sins of idolatry and sexual immorality were just as guilt as those who entered in to those sins originally.
We're going to see this idea again in our study of Hebrews on Sunday. When I sin I not only hurt myself, but I also impact the entire body of Christ. Conversely, I can also have a positive impact on the entire body by living a life that is pleasing to God.
