Today's Reading: John 3:1-36
This chapter contains Jesus' well known conversation with a Pharisee named Nicodemus about the need to be "born again". In verses 14-15, Jesus refers to the event that we read about last week in Numbers 21 where the people of Israel were "saved" by their faith when they looked at the serpent on the pole.
We are saved in a similar way when we respond to the risen Jesus in faith by "believing in Him". As we've discussed often the Hebrew concept of "belief" is more than just an intellectual assent to a set of facts. It is the kind of trust that results in a change in the way a person lives his or her life. Have you believed in Jesus like that? Does your life give evidence of that kind of belief? If not, will you make that decision today. Let us know if you have questions about how to do that.
