Today's reading: Psalm 95:1-11
Here we are reminded not to follow the example of the Israelites in the wilderness. Even though they had witnessed the hand of God first hand, they hardened their hearts and they grumbled against God. Instead of being grateful to God for freeing them from slavery in Egypt and trusting in His promise to bring them into the Promised Land, they chose to focus on their present circumstances.
If we're not careful, we can do the same thing. When we focus on our circumstances rather than on God, it is easy for us to harden our hearts and complain and grumble, too.
Whenever you find yourself complaining or grumbling, confess that to God immediately and then choose to live a life of gratitude that focuses on all that you have in Jesus.
