This Sunday's message: The Song of Zechariah

April 10

Today's Reading: Numbers 11:1-35

Today we begin a new section in our reading plan that focuses on Israel's rebellion in the wilderness after God frees them from slavery in Egypt. Israel immediately falls into a pattern of sin and hardness against their redeeming God, resulting in their judgment in the wilderness prior to entering the land promised to Abraham.

It is easy to criticize the Israelites for their grumbling, but we are prone to do the same thing. Instead of focusing on what God has done for us, we look around and notice what we don't have. We especially have a tendency to look around and see the things that others have that we don't and then feel sorry for ourselves and begin to grumble and complain.

The antidote to that kind of grumbling is to live a life of gratitude and to constantly thank God for His blessings in our lives. Have you been grumbling to God about your circumstances? Then confess that to God and take some time today to thank Him for what He has provided for you.
