Today's Reading: Romans 10:1-21
Paul makes it very clear here that the only way any man can be righteous before God is not by obeying the law, but rather through faith in Jesus alone. That is true for Jews and Gentiles alike. Throughout their history, Israel demonstrated just how impossible it is for man to completely obey the Law. Knowing that from before He created man, God had always planned to send His Son, Jesus, to the earth to provide a way for man to become righteous in God's sight.
As we have discussed often, that does not mean that the law has no value. We are still blessed when we obey God's commands. But that obedience should flow out of our gratitude for what God has done for us, not because we think it can save us.
