Today's reading: Hosea 11:1-12
Set around the fall of the Northern Kingdom of Israel, the Book of Hosea denounces the worship of gods other than YHWH (the LORD), metaphorically comparing Israel's abandonment of YHWH to a woman being unfaithful to her husband. In this chapter God recalls how He had called His people out of Egypt because of His love for them.
God also expressed His disappointment that His people rebelled against Him after He had demonstrated His love by freeing them from slavery in Egypt. But at the same time, God is compassionate toward His people and extends His grace and mercy rather than the wrath they deserve. If you have put your faith in Jesus, then you have also experienced God's grace and mercy rather than the wrath you deserve. If you haven't yet done that, will you do it today?
