Today's reading: Matthew 22:1-46
Once again we're only going to focus on a small part of this chapter, although I encourage you to read the entire passage.
In verse 32, Jesus claims that God is the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob - the patriarchs we have been reading about. But then Jesus adds these words:
He is not God of the dead, but of the living.
This is a very important statement because with those words, Jesus is proclaiming that the God of the patriarchs and the Old Testament is the same God who we serve today and the same God that sent His Son into the world so that we could be made righteous before God and have a relationship with Him. That is the same truth we proclaim when we sing the new song we learned a couple weeks ago - Same God.
