Today's reading: Galatians 3:1-29
Paul references quite a few of the passages we read in Genesis the last couple of weeks. He goes all the way back to the promise God made to Abraham in Genesis 12. He then reminds his readers that, as we see in Genesis 15:6, Abraham was declared righteous because of his faith, not by adhering to the law, which didn't come until hundreds of years later. And we're reminded that the covenant God made with Abraham was ratified by God alone, which makes it an unconditional promise.
The important implication for us is that everyone must come to God by faith in Jesus and because of that we are are equal in God's eyes - Jew and Gentile, slave and free, male and female. While we may all have different roles in the body of Christ, we are all equally valuable and that ought to impact the way we treat others, especially our brothers and sisters in Christ.
