Today's reading: 2 Corinthians 4:1-18
Once again we see connections back to the creation account in Paul's writings. Paul writes that Jesus is "the image of God", the same phrase he used in Colossians 1, which we read yesterday. The Greek word translated "image" describes an "exact representation". As we talked about last week, He is God's final message who reveals, in His flesh, the nature of God.
Paul also cites the creation account in Genesis 1:3, where God created light to shine in the darkness to describe how Jesus has shined light into our dark hearts. Without God taking the initiative do do that, we would be in darkness, just like the rest of the world who had been blinded to that light.
Take some time today to thank God for sending Jesus to shine His light into your dark heart.
