Todays reading: Psalm 19:1-14
This Psalm serves as a bridge between the creation accounts and John 1, which we'll read a couple days from now. The Psalm begins with a reference to God's creation - which He spoke into being. That creation declares the glory of God since it is a reflection of who He is. Then in verse 7 David changes his focus to the Word of God, which he calls law, testimony, precepts, commandment, and rules. So we see that not only did God speak the creation into being, but His intent was that the creation should continue to operate by His words. As we'll see in our next section, unfortunately man has failed to do so.
The creation accounts and this Psalm form an important background for John 1, where we will see that Jesus is called the Word. We'll dig a little deeper into why John describes Jesus like that in a couple days.
The question for us to consider to day is whether we are living our lives according to God's Word.
