This Sunday's message: The Song of Zechariah

December 20

Today’s Reading: Luke 1:78-79; Genesis 1:1-5; Psalm 119:145-148; John 1:1-13
This line from Zechariah’s song is really a great picture of the coming of Christ. Just like the sunrise in the morning, it slowly and quietly arrives, just like Jesus quietly arrived in the form of a humble baby. But this also speaks to God ushering in light (goodness) into a world of darkness (sin and worldliness). We can be certain that the Lord’s return will not be like this humble arrival, as we read in Revelation 1:7, “Behold, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him, and all tribes of the earth will wail on account of him. Even so. Amen.” Today, we wait just like Zechariah did, but we are awaiting the return of our Savior. While you are waiting for the Lord’s return, we are to be obedient, which includes sharing Him with others as we don’t want to see others remain in darkness. Who can you share Jesus with today?
