Today’s Reading: Luke 1:76; Deuteronomy 4:5-9; Psalm 139:13-16; 2 Timothy 1:5-14
John’s ministry from before he was born was to be a prophet of God and to the prepare the way for the Savior. Also noteworthy is that Zechariah and Elizabeth knew this was his purpose. So, what did they do? They had to raise him with this purpose in mind. How we raise our children is an essential part of our ministry. We are to prepare our children to carry out their mission. Of course, not everyone reading this has children that they are currently raising, and for some, you may not have children at all. How does this apply to you, then? First, we have all been commissioned to make disciples, so we must prepare ourselves for that. Two, as we learned a couple of weeks ago, we are all to prepare the way to the Lord for others, so we too must share the Good News with those who we encounter. We know that the Lord will return, and since we don’t know when, this is a time sensitive task that we have. Have you shared the Good New with anyone today? It’s not too late!
