Psalm 124: “The Lord is on Our Side”
In Romans 8:31, Paul says that if God is with us, then who can be against us? This psalm is very similar to that question. It helps us to see that when the Lord is on our side, we win. There is nothing that can overtake us. Now, this isn’t to say that we won’t have our own struggles or what may appear to be defeats, it simply means that the Lord is is complete control. He wills the conclusion of the circumstances we are in. It is He that wrote the ending of the story before we even knew there a story to tell. That’s really what the first verse is telling us, as we read “if it had not been for the Lord.” If we could only draw a line next to this statement in our bibles, and fill it in with what the Lord has done for us, we can be forever grateful. I have one. If it had not been for the Lord I would have died in that car accident 15 years ago. All logic says that the accident should’ve have taken my life, but the Lord had different plans. What is your “fill in the blank” moment?
